Fall 2011

Warm greetings from Naco!

Peter & Leslie, and we ALL are pleased to bring you this update as we prepare the golf course for your arrival.  Above average monsoons has
the course in great shape for over-seeding, which started September 19. Through plentiful summer rains the Ladies Room ceiling didn't leak, so all that re-screwing on the roof WAS worth it!  Truly an amazing time; we will look great for the winter!  As always, while you were enjoying your family and friends over the summer, our staff has been busy.

*New linoleum installed in the restrooms and showers in the RV Park, which looks great; and new cleaning procedures are in place, too!  *Our Winter Menu should be up and running for October.  *Aeration and Overseed, as we've said.  *Tournaments and LOTS of new staff, in ALL Departments.  *GREAT New Rates to Announce for the Coming Season!

Let's start with the Rates, as money is foremost on everyone's mind...

In the RV Park, Peak Fees are being REDUCED!
            From $350/month + electric to $300/month + electric!
Monthly Rates will simply be    $250 + electric, May - October
                                                   and   $300 + electric, November - April.
Golf Membership Fees ARE ALSO being REDUCED!
Quarterly Single Green Fees are going from $425 to $400!
Quarterly Couple Green Fees are going from $695 to $600!

Further, we're serious about helping out the "shorter-term" guests.  In years past, one-month and two-month residents' golfing fees were set to the high side, to encourage longer stays and more fully realize the uniqueness to the Turquoise Valley Experience.

Now, to encourage our one-month residents to sample the Turquoise Valley experience, we're Formalizing AND Broadcasting...
One Month Green Fees, One Person, from $225 to $150!             One Month Green Fees, Two People, from $400 to $250!

...While keeping a nice "loyalty kickback" for those who commit to the full-quarter stay.  GREAT NEWS!!!  Spread the Word!
If anyone's noticed something missing, yes, we've listed no rates that include cart rental.  Such memberships no longer exist.  Don't worry, as Cart fees have dropped down to $10 / cart / round.  (Formerly $20)  Many will find your costs of staying here have been reduced.

For instance, Walkers, Rejoice: YOUR costs of staying here will be MUCH more economical!  Throw in the currency exchange bonus for Canadians and we may even be seeing you early, eh?  Others will STILL realize a reduction in their winter expenses.  Those who don't expect such, consider it this way: it's insurance!  You'll only be paying commensurate to usage.  Though we hear predictions for a nice winter, IF it's cold and you don't feel like playing, don't force yourself and you'll save money!

Or walk and truly realize the benefits of golf that have led at least one team of researchers to conclude that Golf adds an average of five years to one's life!
2012 does bring the advent of our Trail Fee system: $2/Cart/Round for offsite carts.  "Offsite" means any cart not stored on the golf course in one of our rental sheds.  Yes, you read correctly, that carts stored in the RV Park are considered offsite.  However, the $2 fee is really a pittance and worth the convenience of keeping your cart at your front door.  Further, though we agonized over this (the electricity is killing us), Cart Shed Fees will remain unchanged for 2012: $80/Quarter/Gas Cart and $90/Quarter/Electric.

To Summarize: Quality up, Prices down!

In other news, no doubt you've heard about the devastating fire in the area.  Desert re-growth is incredible, black to green, rebounding already.  More golf news: TVGC was selected to host an ESPN National Challenge Regional Qualifying tournament for which the winners received a multi-day pass to play in the National Finals in Las  Vegas!  Yes folks, we're on the map!  Reports from ESPN and the contestants so far are overwhelmingly positive and so we may expect to host this event again in 2012.

And We've got an EXCITING WINTER ahead, so let's get to it...  Daily exercise: YES!  Thursday Card nights in the Rec Room and your other weeknight diversions: Yes!  Tim " Sea " and guests playing music in the bar: Yes!  Monday Pot Lucks in the RV Rec Room moving to our big hall when needed: Yes!  Maybe even a Wii tournament or two?  If you demand it, we'll deliver!  An outside Activities Day or few?  SURE!  Regular Newsletter Updates courtesy of Activities Directors, Jack & Jean Mercer!  YES!

Special Musical Concerts/Events: Sunday, October 30, a multi-band Halloween party featuring: Train Wreck; Partners; Thunder Mountain; Dan Simonis & the West Texas Millionaires; and Rockus.  It's a benefit for Train Wreck drummer, Frank Bloise, who has been diagnosed with a particularly virulent-sounding strain of cancer.  $5/person donation at the door gets you a fantastic afternoon of music, 12noon - 5pm!  100% of the proceeds go to offset Frank's medical expenses.  In better news, we're thrilled to announce that Arvel Bird will make a return performance Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving.  Those who have seen this amazing performer know the power of his shows.  This time, his lovely wife & manager, Kimberly Kelley, will be a more active vocal performer, filling out a facet to his incendiary performances that has only been hinted at before.  December 30, Bonnie & Ted will guide us on a musical and dance-filled journey in honor of New Year's Eve's... Eve!  Mark your calendars for ALL THREE Special Events!  More to Come in the New Year!

Thanksgiving Day, we'll have 9am Golf Shotgun, with a 1pm traditional dinner in the hall.  Bring a prepared dish and $5/person and we'll provide the turkey, stuffing & potatoes.  With those two nice TVs in the bar, we should have ample football coverage on Thanksgiving and also for NYDay's Bowl Games.  Also, AFC and NFC sections for the bar come Superbowl Sunday!

In Golf, SAMSGA is still kicking, though they could use some new blood.  The Southern Arizona Men's Sr. Golf Assn., open to men 55 and older.  It's a great way to play area courses on the cheap and see how awesome Turquoise Valley is!  Don't forget to look them up when you arrive as they welcome newcomers.

"RV" Golf games, as usual, will be the norm on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.  Hopefully Tom & Carol Wharton will be able to lead them.  Let's keep warm & positive thoughts for Tom & Carol.  Jack & Jean Mercer are slated to return mid-November and they deserve a hand and a half, a pat on the back and a whole lot more for their contributions here over the years.  In particular, they saw to it laat year that the golf games continued, despite their many other Activities Responsibilities.  When you arrive, please check out the Pro Shop bulletin board for the games, guidelines and sign up sheets.

SPECIAL GOLF ALERT, FROM OUR CANANEA, MEXICO FRIENDS!!!
Club Campestre de Cananea has reopened.  They too are presently
overseeding and have been busy getting their carts back in running order.  Their powers-that-be are planning to host a two-day tournament to welcome back their northern family members to the newly-reopened course.  Dates are still to be set, but tentatively planned for either November 12 & 13, or November 26 & 27.  Please write in and lend us your vote.  It may not be up to us, however, so to play it safe, perhaps you should consider arriving in early November, as this promises to be a great and warm weekend of wonderful friends and wonderful times.

Special Requests/Suggestions for Activities?  We're open to hear'em, so let us know!  Some possibilities  that have already come before us and that we "might" arrange are: Zumba Dance, Art Classes and Golf Skills Contests and other Challenges.  Happy Hour Movie Nights in the Bar?  Let us know what you think!

When here, use the Comment Cards & Suggestion Box as they help us to make the needed changes.  ...WE DO READ THEM!  J

Jack and Jean Mercer will return as Campground Hosts and Activities Masters (yay)!  Along with Chuck Grinstead, they will welcome arrivals and align them in their sites, but also provide newsletters of events and communicate with us any cool and/or constructive comments and concerns that pop up during the regular Monday evening potlucks, scheduled at 6pm in the Rec Room -or Clubhouse Banquet Hall as needed.

In the Restaurant, the cooler weather returns soups to our Specials Board!  The later tee times of the months to come provide opportunities to enjoy our breakfast menu, where our steaks continue to find new fans!   One new customer told us we need to specifically market them and he'd gladly pay a dollar more for the "Eagle" meal.  The addition of a Green Chile-&-Tomatillo Sauce to our famous Red Sauce as an "Enchilada Style" option is also available for breakfast.  Some cold morning, try your breakfast burro under a blend of green chile and tomatillos for a zesty, tangy and yet surprisingly mild, new dimension of flavor.  As hinted, the Winter Menu is coming, though we'll still welcome your suggestions for our Spring Edition!

In the Bar, Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer is really taking a hold on some consumers.  Perhaps it is the comforting element of a simple, classic beer that hearkens back to a halcyon era.  Could be the price too, but people are enjoying it!  Jeremiah Weed Malt Beverage is on special: $1/cans Tuesdays -through- Thursdays, while supplies last.  Also, newly arrived to welcome back our northern brethren, Revelstoke Spiced Canadian Whiskey!  It is simply delicious and for our introductory shipment, we can offer it at $3.50 a serving -practically "well" prices!  Give it a try and tell us how you like it!

And now, on to other regular topics...

DOGS              Apart from a direct path between the front gate to Newell St. and your door, dogs are not allowed to be walked in the RV Park.  Please use Newell Street and the lots on either side of the RV Park.  Residents of the RV Park expect -and we insist- that any clues left along the way will be picked up by their owners and disposed of.  There is a baggies stand at the front gate in the Park.

NOISE             Quiet time is 10pm to 7am.

MAIL                Anyone staying longer than one month is obligated by Federal law to get a P.O. Box.  It's $20 for up to 6 months and $40 for up to 12 months.  If you're staying less than one month and your mail will be forwarded here, make sure it is addressed "care of" Turquoise Valley.  Following these instructions provides the best chances for expeditious service.  The friendly folks at the Naco Post Office may be reached at 520-432-2471.  The Naco P.O. will indeed assign a Box number prior to arrival, so that you may know in advance where you may have your mail forwarded.  Just give them a call.

WIFI                 Our dual system, half of which was installed to the Rec Room roof on a windy March day by Mark Captain has been working thanks to Mr. Captain and the good folks at Monsoon PC.  Keep them in mind for your computer repairs and other needs.  We've spent a LOT of time with Transworld upgrading the Access Point for the "South Pole" / Tower, too.  Planning & Zoning is making us jump through hoops to keep it, but we fully expect to be able to have it working better than when you last were here.  On the docket is a plan to add a west-side access point for the Transworld system for the corner sites.  The Pro Shop has NEW CODES to access our wireless internet, too.  Feel free to ask them for those codes if you're not given them at check in.  Yet if you absolutely need the power, high speed and peace of mind that comes from a true, utility company, Cableone would be happy to provide it for you.  It seems they always have some kind of neat promotion on tap: 520-432-5397.  You will need to know your assigned site number.

WATER                                    We still haven't installed water meters at the sites.  However we do realize that we are in desert; and although we're a golf course, we've managed to cut our own water usage over 25% a year since 2001, and that's a trend we started before working with the Upper San Pedro (River) Partnership.   Yet RV Park per capita percentages steadily climb: $10 fee to wash your RV.

TELEPHONE SERVICE           Almost everyone has a cell phone these days and the service here is approximately reliable, too!  Those who would like a land line can get one if they are confirmed for any of the sites numbered 1 - 60.  The number to call Qwest is 800-244-1111.  The RV Park address is: 1791 W. Newell St, Naco, 85620.  Once again, you'll need to know your site number.

RATES & FEES                       Covered Above: Lower rates now than we've had, going back several years!

DEPOSITS                               To confirm your reservation, we require a $50/month deposit.  This will ensure you get the site you desire IF you arrive on the date of your reservation.  If you vary in your arrival day, we'll probably still be able to keep you in the site you reserved, but we won't give our word to it.

If you have any questions, feel free to surf our website or call or email, too!  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. emails directly to the fine men who run the Pro Shop, take your tee times and all that great other stuff.  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. STILL works, too.

That's all for now.  We're hoping to seeya soon!  Just because you received this letter doesn't mean you're confirmed for a site however, but rather that we love you.  Please check in to see if we're expecting you, or to confirm the specifics of your RV site arrangements.

Thanks Again for All You Do and Who You Are   -
You have our Love and Appreciation There are Great Tournaments to come, Great Food and Great Friends.
We can't wait to see you all and share stories!
